With the availablity of new items and new troops it might be a nice option to reclaim items for half the value and decommission soldiers(you would recover nothing but the barrack space) old outdated items like leather and studded leather are quite useless to me now and are in odd numbers that i cant put to proper use

I agree, good idea.
i like the idea... but i think that there should be an 'upgrade' or convert button, where you can upgrade 1 type of armor to a better type.... wouldn't cost the full ammt of the new armor, yet its not too cheap 
Yeah, I think we should be able to do something with old armor and weapons we had already made and since replaced with new better ones.
We are already planning leveled items, giving players the possibility to upgrade items from one level to the other. Should be implemented soon.
