the REAL question is HOW do troops die from starving? all extra troops die in a second to make food consumption 0 or 1? or do they slowly die, a troop every few seconds till consumption is 0?
let me give an example of its implementation on travian.
once crop reaches 0 in storage, a soldier die (it dies randemly between the several types of troops, and support), once it dies, a small amount of food gets placed in storage, very small, about 100~200 (cannibalism?), once the storage reaches 0 again, another dies.
now depedning how big this negative number is, you can tell how fast this 100 food is going to deplete, and the rate of death.
sending support away is a bad idea. sometimes i DO want them. i have a very dangerous incoming, and i NEED support, and my food is very bad from previous farm losses, my clan sends support, and i'm already in negative, but what is worse? having these troops starve? or losing more runes?
if the implementation is such as all extra troops die istantly, i can see how useless my idea would be, but if they die slowly, sometimes having a bunch die from starving, but the rest fighting is a lot better than losing my runes (and maybe more farms
).
Yea, you have a point there. At the moment a bunch of troops die when the "treshold" is reached. (So you have a certain buffer of negative income that you can take before troops die). The amount of troops that die when the buffer is "full", is half the amount of troops that are causing the negative income.
Maybe the Travian system is better, I'll see if I can implement that.
That's great...what about balancing the two races or fixing archers? I think you are wasting time worrying about these improvements. When you need to face the PROBLEMS.
Working on that as well... well, more writing papers for school, but thinking about it at least ;-)
If keeping your troops alive by feeding them - which makes sense, I think most serious players will start to have some farms in close to the castle, to keep from losing all production in case of rune loses. It only makes sense in any world, that you have to keep your troops afloat, instead of pouring all water runes into stables and not worrying about them after training. We have learned to play with this flaw, but it does mean it was right. Lets learn how to take care of our troops going forward.
And about balance or lack thereof. Looking at human versus elves, it is no wonder any repeat player here turns up Elf. If you look at the troop stats, the Health of the elves are far better than humans, in a few cases more than double to their counter part. The are far superior in the attack category, except horses and wolf riders are the same - these by the way has the most similar strengths across the board, except for health. Spearmen have a little more defense than the Dark Warriors, but much less health and attack. This needs to fixed, in my opinion before ANYTHING else, or there is simply no reason so select the human race, which only about 5% has. - I did for testing purposes, as I thought the imbalance had already been tweaked.
